FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO YOU ENSURE I DON’T LOSE MUSCLE ON A GLP-1?
GLP-1 therapies don’t inherently cause muscle loss—poor implementation does. At Thrive, we prevent muscle loss through a precision-based approach: selecting the right GLP-1 for your goals and lifestyle, using strategic microdosing instead of aggressive protocols, and gradually titrating up only when needed. We also pair your protocol with targeted nutrition, including customized meal plans designed to support muscle preservation—and even growth.
If you’ve had a negative experience with GLP-1s in the past, it likely came down to guidance. GLP-1s are simply a tool. Like building a house with wood, the outcome depends entirely on how the builder uses the material. Not all houses made of wood are the same—just like not all results from GLP-1 therapy are the same. At Thrive, we use GLP-1s with intention—helping you burn fat efficiently, minimize side effects, and preserve (or build) lean muscle.
DO I NEED BLOOD WORK AND A MEMBERSHIP PLAN TO BE ON A GLP-1?
We strongly advise completing blood work before starting GLP-1 therapy to ensure your hormones and overall health are where they should be. Fat loss is significantly easier when your hormones and health markers are aligned—you shouldn’t have to fight against a “slow metabolism” or low energy caused by underlying hormone imbalances or nutrient deficiencies.
If you prefer to start a GLP-1 without blood work and proceed with a consultation only, you can email us at clinic@thrivehrt.com. But again we highly encourage starting with blood work to ensure the fastest, most effective, and sustainable results. Work with your body—not against it—to lose fat efficiently and keep it off long-term.
Will I gain the weight back when I stop?
With the proper diet, training, hormone optimization, and recovery strategy, average weight loss is 12.3 pounds for males within the first 6 weeks and 7.7 pounds for females within the same timeframe. At the 4-month mark, average weight loss increases to 23.2 pounds for males and 13.1 pounds for females.
Most importantly, however, our patients report feeling stronger, less inflamed, and more energized. We prioritize true transformation—focusing on fat loss, performance, vigor, and vitality, not just weight loss.
What about muscle loss on GLP-1?
Most of our patients gradually taper their GLP-1 dose up until they reach their desired level of fat loss. From there, they taper back down to help maintain their results. Many choose to continue with a low-dose, microdosing approach because they enjoy the benefits of a GLP—reduced food noise, lower inflammation, increased energy, improved blood work, and an easier time staying lean.
However, continuing long-term is entirely optional. If you decide to stop, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition will allow you to keep the fat off.
